Brooks Transcend by Ash Senyk
A completely new shoe designed with years of research and development. Having posted a few miles in the new style I was quick to learn that the feel is completely different from a standard running shoe with stability provided by the wider footprint. The Super DNA sole unit bonds together two good technologies from Brooks; cushioning and the rebound. The narrow heel took a bit of getting used to which they say helps encourage a more natural stride. Inside the shoe they use a plush lining with almost no seams.
I have more than 1,000 miles racked up in my Transcends and they have only become more comfortable over the time. In a strange move away from a minimalist shoe, it was tough getting used to the wider than normal footprint in the beginning. But despite this, they can run pretty fast (one guy in the U.S. recorded a 2:20 marathon in them) and especially suit the big miles.
You get more shoe for the money, and compared to other brands at a similar price point – they present pretty good value. Think of them as shoes that last twice the duration of a normal trainer (*depending on how you run).
